Under new laws, all pool owners in NSW will have to sign up to a government register and check that their pool complies with an online check-list.
In NSW, it is believed there are more than 300,000 pools in backyards across the state, and approximately six children die each year, and dozens more are permanently injured or disabled from near drownings.
